06) Somewhere in 199?
Not a good week… she took inventory – $0 in retirement savings, no job, seven applications, partway through a novel. Need to consider this whole jobless thing. To live or die – what does it matter? Life doesn’t feel good most of the time. She was pissed at them for leaving her and just tired of thinking about it.
No one wants to go back to the past – why should they? Why would they? The fact is that she didn’t like the present and the future was like smoke from a tailpipe… it disappeared before she could make out the word. There was no place to be: past, present or future. Only thing to look forward to is a supernova. She felt her lip curl just thinking about it and laughed. What a freak.
How do you wash the blackness from a diseased mind – one that thinks too much, one that can’t conform, one that could so easily wash out to sea?
“Sink or swim… Sink or swim,” she said lying against her pillow.
She clutched her diary, her only sanity.
